September 13, 2008 Hurricane IKE was initially forcasted to make landfall at MATAGORDA BAY, TX.
This GULF COAST community is twenty one (21) miles north of Bay City, the community where NuBLAC founder Joyce Black and family live...
Both hurricanes IKE & RITA were predicted to make landfall as a catergory 4-5 with surge waters reaching heights of 50 to 60 feet and supposedly would travel as far inland as sixty to seventy miles.
The area is flatland with no buildings taller than three (3) stories within forty miles of the Gulf of Mexico. Therefore, had the forecasted predictions become a reality, all the smaller communities within those distances would have been totally destroyed.
Being a strong faith believer and prayer warrior, Joyce chose not to evacuate her home. Each instance, she and James stayed home with their small French poodle Monet' and looked after properties of their friends who fled the area.
The current and upcoming projects for NuBLAC include raising funds to assist those Gulf Coast communities vastly affected by Hurricane IKE... particularily the communities in and around Galveston, Texas.
